Malaysia is a huge melting pot of races where Malays, Indians, Chinese and many other ethnic groups live
together in peace and harmony. Malaysia has wide diversity in nature as much as
in its culture. British colonial background makes foreigners easy to interact with the locals. I am introducing the 5 most
visited destinations here, though everywhere in Malaysia can be a perfect
destination for your vacation.
1. KUALA LUMPUR
Kuala Lumpur, or KL as simply called by locals, is the federal capital and the biggest city in Malaysia. It is a perfect representation of the harmoniously multi-racial Malaysia, grown from a small Chinese tin mine village to a bustling metropolis of 7 million in just 150 years. The industrial and economical hub of Southeast Asia has everything you can expect for a tourist destination from historic monuments, skyscrapers, parks and mega sized shopping malls to street markets and trendy nightspots.
2. KOTA KINABALU
Kota Kinabalu, or KK as everyone calls it, is a fantastic city for from nature explorers to exausted minds. Just around a corner you have long sandy beaches, paradise islands, virgin coral reefs, tropical rain forests, and the 4,095 meters high mountain. You can go climbing to the Mount Kinabalu, diving in Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park and appreciate one of the world’s best sunset views from fancy beach bars in one city. They’ve also got enough luxury resorts for excited honeymooners.
3. LANGKAWI
Enjoy beautiful beaches, uninhabited marine park and UNESCO designated World Geopark with super-cheap duty free shopping altogether in this cluster of 99 islands. After a breathtaking bird’s eye view on Langkawi Sky Bridge, you should experience the peaceful countryside by renting a car and taking a drive around the island, or go trekking and boat tour through the rainforest and mangroves.
4. PENANG
George Town, the capital city of Penang was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site along with Malacca for its well-preserved colonial-era structures including temples, mosques and churches.

5. KUCHING
Located at the southwestern tip of Malaysian part in island of Borneo, this capital city of Sarawak state developed the unique blend of different cultures and ethnic tribes. Kuching became a commercial and cultural center for the Malays as well as for the cats in Sarawak, as the name of the city means cat in Bahasa Melayu (Malay language). It has the only cat museum in Malaysia along with some nice beaches and natural parks.
