GEOGRAPHIC INFO OF SINGAPORE THAT CAN’T BE MORE CONCISE

Pop quiz! Find Singapore in the world map. You got 2 seconds. If you didn’t make it, I assume you’ve never been there and you’re good to go ahead read more. It’s the 192th largest country in the world. Still, you don’t get how small it is, uh? To make it simple, just one and half hour is enough to cut across the country from the very left end to the other. It’s like watching one football game and boom! Here we are. It makes sense why many Singaporean people always go on a vacation abroad and why there is no Singaporean who's never been to other countries in lifetime.

Singapore is a nation of archipelagos and also a city state, located at the tip of Malay Peninsula neighboring Malaysia to the north and Indonesia to the south. 



1. 63 islands

Despite its size, Singapore consists of 63 islands, among which Jurong, Tekong, Ubin and Sentosa are the mains. The highest mountain of Singapore is situated at the 166m altitude.



2. Singapore, beefing up its size

As a fruition of reclamation works since 1960’s, it is now 697.2㎢ from the original size of 581.5㎢. It’s slightly bigger than Seoul, the capital of South Korea. The reclamation has 100㎢ more to go on the Singaporean government’s calendar up to 2030 with the main purpose of connecting small islands to the main ones.




3. 5 administrative districts and 55 urban planning areas

The jurisdiction of Singapore is divided in total 5 districts of the South West, North West, North East, South East and Central Singapore and consists of 55 urban planning areas including Queenstown and the Central Business District in downtown Singapore. 



4. How to get to Kuala Lumpur from Singapore

Kuala Lumpur is 5~6 hour away by bus from Singapore. Although it’s only an hour by air, flight is nothing but a more expensive option considering the usual idle time at the airport. You can also take a night train that arrives early in the morning like 5 o’clock. So, why not consider train if you feel like traveling in a nighttime ambiance without wasting up your day time?
